Take an oath

February 4, 2010

Huka recently recommended and got me hook onto reading Rozz’s blog. Found her latest entry on friendship most intriguing. I guess I am able to relate with the post in many aspects. Particularly the thing about axing people off. Exchange had widen my exposure to a whole lot of people of different types and one thing I learnt over the past four months, would be that there is really no right or wrong when it comes to people relationships. Yes, i bet there are many times when we find ourselves so irked by that certain behaviour of that certain someone. But hey, who are we to judge and say that it is “bad”. Rather, I think it is just a matter of differences really. In my brother’s words, “if that is the case, just don’t be friends lor”. Yap. Life is really not that complicated.

But I am guilty to see myself somewhat falling under one of her “toxic friend” categories, the Me-Myself-And-I’s. I do realise that sometimes when I hold conversations with people, I have the tendency to bring in things about myself into whatever topic we are on. And I acknowledge that is not very nice because you end up not really paying attention to the what the other party is saying. It is like always trying to pull the focus of the topic back to yourself. As a matter of fact, I find that quite a bit of people around me does the same as well. Not that it justifies the action, but I think it is a little of human tendency. Still, it is very bad indeed and I guess it does call for more conscious effort to change.

Letter with a dove

January 31, 2010

The week had been good. Settled down and tidied up. Just completed dissertation proposal and handed up to the department on Friday. Quite please with the topic as of now, hopefully I would not have much problem when doing it.

Spent Saturday at home with Aub as we are starting to save up. Watched (500) Days of Summer on DVD, but didn’t really like it. I don’t seem to be enjoying movies as much nowadays anymore. Very soon I’ll be running out of things to do in Singapore seriously.

Or maybe not.

Despite my resolution to start shopping for new clothes after I shed that 6 kg gain, I figured that it is going to be a lot harder than I expected, and probably going to take a much longer time too. So heck those fats. I’m all up for shopping sprees now! Went 313 with mummy and daddy on Saturday night. Came home with a new top and bottom from forever21 and obi belt from mphosis. It’s official. I’m a fan of forever21, be it in Canada, the USA or Singapore!

Today is HDB’s 50th Birthday Bash & Family Day so I was down at Toa Payoh Hub with Aub. There was like this mini fun-fair with food and games, and musical. Not too bad. In fact, I thought the musical was pretty well done. But all in all, felt a bit like they were sending out NDP messages. Not that it is a bad thing. Hah.

I have been waking up in the morning having the i-miss-canada-and-usa-a-lot thing. It is like one of those times when I watch a drama and slip into the dreamy state of mind. Just that this time, it wasn’t a dream. I had been there and done that. It is a life that I can possibly own. Perhaps, just not now.

Wake me up

January 24, 2010

Ah, yes. This place is growing cobwebs. Promised myself that I shall faithfully blog for my whole exchange duration, but obviously, too lazy. Anyways, I’m back! And I think there is so much to update that let’s just not bother. Exchange shall just be remembered in the heart. (: I experienced, I learnt, I grew up, and hopefully I have returned a better person.

Lazy Sunday afternoon at home, slacking. Still have a lot to do for dissertation but am having a lack of focus. The mind is occupied with a lot of stuffs. Some are just plain stupid, I know, but that’s just me for you. What is the whole big deal about being fat, having bad complexion, and big frizzy hair. And please stop thinking about that camera.

Okay, I shall attempt to blog regularly even if they’re just short entries. But now, get back to work.

Just smile back

Went for dinner with Huka, Haydee and Miny at Blue Basil last night after a afternoon of shopping along Orchard Road with Huka. Blue and white was the theme of the night. Accompanied with great food, awesome company. (:

We continue taking many random photos at the outside of the restaurant after that. The people walking past and in and out must find us very very amusing. Haha.

One of your own

Caught UP with Aub today at Cineleisure. Our first 3D movie! Quite disappointed with the 3D effects though. I was expecting something similar to what I had seen in Disneyland or Universal Studio rides but its nothing like that. It’s almost as if I was just watching the normal version. The movie itself was not bad. Pretty funny at parts. I really love the little fat boy Russell! Damn cute.

We walked over to Orchard Central for dinner after the movie. Failed to try out the new easteries. Got attracted to the delicious looking food displayed outside, we went into Botejyu. Aye. Regret. Shopped around OG afterward for Aub’s tumbler and he finally found one not too ugly one at a relatively cheap price. Bought expensive fruit tarts from Fruit Paradise for Mummy and Daddy before going home. I think the S$8 spent is really not worthed! The tart slice is much smaller than I expected and more than half the tart is of whipped cream. The crust is really nice though. But I’d rather buy cakes from CanelĂ© instead. Haha.

Love the denim corset top from Bonito Chico! (:

Beautiful day

August 8, 2009

Met up with Xue Ting yesterday. We’re like the only two bored souls around trying to find things to do to kill time. Haha. So decided to try “The Irresistible $15 Set Lunch at Clarke Quay” that my brother had been telling me about. Offer extends to quite a few restaurants along Clarke Quay. Think its quite a good deal. We settled for Hot Stones Steak and Seafood Restaurant two-course set lunch. It is similar to the Stone Grill Restaurant at Malaysia but food quality is definitely much much better!

I look damn fat in this photo. Aye. ):

IMG_1280

Went over to shop around at The Central after lunch and we conclude that it’s a terrible place to shop at. There is really nothing worth shopping there. I decided to go for desert at Azabu Sabo and pulled Xue Ting along. Literally forced her into the shop. Hahah. That girl had Turkish ice cream after Hot Stones (but I didn’t!) and was super reluctant for a second round of desert. Took me damn long to psycho her into eating with me!

IMG_1291

After that we continue down town to Orchard Central. They have quite a good variety of dining places and most seem to be new restaurants that I’ve not seen elsewhere outside. They look pretty good too! Shall go down again one day to try them out. There are also these open-air balcony areas that looks out to the streets of Orchard Road. They call it urban verandahs, meant for people to chill and relax at I guess. Nice place and I like the concept.

Wednesday was out shopping with Hui Zhen. The initial plan was to go down to Traceyeinny’s store at Chinatown but ended up just shopping around Orchard Road. We lunched at Soup Spoon @ Paragon and saw the cute aunty whom we were bargaining with at the Expo flea market. How small the world can be! Apparently she works over there aside from helping her daughter with the blog shop. And I think its pretty amazing that we actually bump into her together.

The both of us talked a lot over lunch. Hui Zhen says I give her a lot of good advices but I think back about it now, I realise that for a lot of the things I tell her, I don’t really practise them myself. It is like when shit really happens on you, you’d get all flustered and lost on what to do. But at times like those, I know I have her to depend on to help me through too. I think I’m pretty reliant on her for advices as well. Guess that’s what girlfriends are for. (:

Bro’s commencement was weeks ago but I thought I’ll post after I get the studio shots.

Graduation photos taken on campus that day.

Waited a while for Bro to go round taking photos with his friends then rushed down to Square 2 for our studio shot.

A pretty fresh experience. But I think I really suck at posing and looking naturally in front of cameras. Haha. And I really prefer myself the natural way. Make up looks funny one me. Aub agrees. Gah. Love how some of the photos turn out though. Especially the family shots!

Took a lot more pretty photos but too many to upload them all. We had the photos printed onto a wedding album alike book and I think its very prettily done! So does Daddy and Mummy. Can see that they really love it a lot!(:

Balloons & kisses

July 28, 2009

So much to update but I’ve been feeling lazy to blog!

Met up with Huka yesterday and we had a girls date out the whole day from Suntec City to Wisma. Shop, eat and talk a lot! And thanks to Huka’s (very patient) help I finally found a overcoat for Canada! Yayyy. I dread the idea of covering myself up in big, bulky, unappealing clothes so I’ve combed almost the whole island trying to find something a bit more stylish. :x Haha. Just hope that my vanity wouldn’t cause me to freeze to death over there.

Outing with the gang to Seoul Garden @ Marina Square on Sunday! I haven’t stepped in there for ages! Think the last time was in Secondary 3. Haha. Xue Ting and I had strong cravings for Korean BBQ but we realised that most Korean restaurants are a tad too expensive! ): So in the end settled for Seoul Garden. Not very authentic but I think its not bad. I love the garlic chicken and chocolate fondue!

Group shot! Pose at the request of Guan Zheng. Haha.

IMG_1216

Had tonnes of fun with the gang over dinner!(:

IMG_1215

Saturday night went to ION Orchard with Aub. The place is damn big, damn messy and damn crowded! Dinner-ed at Sho Teppanyaki since it was one of the casual dining places with a shorter queue. I think the food is not bad! Concept is somewhat similar to Pepper Lunch and beside teppanyaki they also have shabu shabu!

IMG_1181

IMG_1185

Window shopped around and Aub got himself another Crumpler. Talking about spending I think I’ve influenced Aub to become a shopaholic like me larh! The difference is that he has the income to support his spending while I’m leaching my my savings. ): So bad. We went for desert afterward before heading home!

IMG_1186

Went to the flea market @ Expo with Hui Zhen on Friday. Saw a few of the blog shop stalls over there. The clothes look so cheapskate made with really lousy material. Aye. Photo shots seen online are so unreliable! Set my eyes on a few pieces but they’re either too big or don’t have the colour I want. And I especially like this denim dress but the back design is ugly. Boo ): Went home empty handed in the end. Hui Zhen bought a mphosis inspired skirt and a white dress we spent 20 minutes trying to bargain 2 dollars off. Haha. The bargaining process was funny though. The aunty damn cute. Haha.

IMG_1175

I have a long to-do list to complete but I’m feeling very lazy! ): My room is in a BIG mess. PTS report is not done.. or rather not started on. Luggage for Canada is.. BAD. Aye. I really got to move my butt off the sofa and start getting things done.
